Natural Botanicals

Natural Botanicals are plant-based, non-synthetic ingredients used in a variety of skincare formulations for their specific properties. Botanicals have been used to protect, soothe, heal and brighten skin for thousands of years. Some botanicals are particularly useful in combatting inflammatory conditions like eczema, rosacea, psoriasis and acne. They are rich in antioxidants which fight the free radicals in our environment which damage the dermis and cause signs of premature ageing, such as fine lines, wrinkles and sagging.

Antioxidant vitamins A, B5, C and E are found in many plant-based formulations and assist with skin regeneration, as well as providing protection and repair against UV damage. Some botanicals, including camomile, have antimicrobial and antibacterial properties. Formulations containing natural botanicals are kinder to your skin and do not release synthetic chemicals into the environment.

The natural botanicals used by Gardiner Family Apothecary are sustainably-sourced, of the highest quality, and organic whenever possible. They include aloe vera, camomile, apple, apricot, vanilla Planifolia fruit, Arabica seed extract, fractionated coconut oil, shea butter, peppermint oil, , vegetable glycerin, Brazilian Muira Puama and Madonna Lily.

Rosacea affects 1 in 10 people in Ireland and is often known as ‘The Curse of the Celts’?  It can be mistaken for acne, eczema or an allergic reaction, causes facial redness and may produce small, red, pus-filled bumps. The first signs of rosacea are a blush-like reddening which spreads across the nose, cheeks, forehead and chin, along with a burning or stinging feeling when using water or certain skincare products.
